What about your organization or company’s work are you most proud of?

Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) was organized in 1919 and has been strongly advocating for farmers and ranchers for 103 years. MFBF represents  nearly 30,000 members from all corners of the state, representing all sectors of agriculture. We are made up of 78 county/regional Farm Bureau associations working collaboratively to serve as the voice of agriculture.

Direction for the organization truly comes from those working in the  fields and barns, each and every day. Not only does our work directly impact farmers and ranchers, but the policies that are important to our members are vital to strengthening rural communities.

Please highlight key trends affecting your industry.

We rely on our membership to raise awareness on the most pressing issues affecting their livelihood. While we work to address the wide variety of topics they provide, our board of directors narrows down our focus to key areas that will have the most impact. For 2022, our priorities are: supply chain, sustainability, workforce development, strengthening rural communities, health care and research, and investment to drive the future of agriculture in the state.

Talk about the key opportunities & challenges facing your business over the next 5 years.

Farming and ranching is about so much more than growing crops and raising livestock. Our members need to have expertise in so many different areas to help their operations thrive, while also staying abreast on emerging issues and regulations. While it may seem overwhelming, we are here to help and support them. We also need to be advocates for agriculture, providing consumers the knowledge and confidence to understand and know how their food, fuel and fiber is produced by using science-based  knowledge and practices.
